1. Social logistics demand is growing steadily. From January to July, the total amount of social logistics in the country was 154.1 trillion yuan, calculated at comparable prices, an increase of 6.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. Among them, the total amount of industrial product logistics was 139.8 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%, and the growth rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The total logistics volume of imported goods was 7.9 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.4%, and the growth rate dropped by 7 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year.
2. Demand for e-commerce logistics maintained rapid growth. The e-commerce logistics index jointly investigated by China Federation of Things and JD.com shows that the average total business volume index from January to July is 134.6 points, and the average rural business volume index is 133.1 points. Both the total business volume and the scale of rural business volume remain above 30% of rapid growth. Driven by the demand for e-commerce logistics, the total logistics volume of units and residents from January to July increased by 26.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 19.8 percentage points higher than the total social logistics.
3. The growth rate of the total cost of social logistics has dropped. From January to July, the total cost of social logistics was 7.2 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 1.7 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. From the perspective of composition, transportation costs were 3.9 trillion yuan, an increase of 8% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 4.7 percentage points lower than the same period of the previous year; storage costs were 2.5 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 1.7 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year; Administrative expenses were 0.9 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.1%, and the growth rate was 0.7 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The level of logistics costs in some provinces also showed a downward trend. In the first half of the year, the ratios of total social logistics costs to GDP in Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Hunan and Hebei were 15.8%, 15.5%, 14.8%, 15.3% and 16.5%, compared with the same period last year. Both have declined. The ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP in Shanxi Province in 2017 was 17.8%, a significant drop from the past few years. The data reflects the continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of economic operations in various regions.

According to the survey data of key logistics enterprises by China Logistics Information Center, the business income of enterprises increased rapidly from January to July, and their profitability improved compared with the same period last year. From January to July, the cumulative logistics business income of key logistics enterprises increased by 14.2% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 0.9 percentage points higher than that from January to June. In terms of enterprise types, the business income of comprehensive logistics enterprises accounted for 63%, an increase of 17.5% year-on-year; the business income of transportation-type logistics enterprises accounted for 13%, an increase of 7.6% year-on-year, and the business income of warehousing logistics enterprises accounted for 24%, an increase of 9.2% year-on-year.
From January to July, the business profits of key logistics enterprises increased by 15.3% year-on-year. In terms of enterprise types, the business profits of comprehensive logistics enterprises increased by 18.3% year-on-year; the business profits of transportation-type logistics enterprises increased by 8.1% year-on-year; the business profits of storage-type logistics enterprises increased by 8.7% year-on-year.
From January to July, the income profit margin of key enterprises was 9%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points over the same period last year, and the income profit margin of comprehensive logistics enterprises was higher than that of transportation and warehousing enterprises.
